Myan Aung

Morning walk in the small town of Myan Aung with its many well preserved colonial houses and busy local market. Approximately, 40,000 people live in Myan Aung but another 69 villages belong to this community. The town is quite prosperous as they have two rice harvests and they produce different kinds of beans. Due to its high location, the town is not affected by high water levels and it is an important port. People are not used to tourists as most of the river cruises start at Pyay and go northward. Our cruise boat is the only one that stops here, once a fortnight between November and February.
