Sydney

We had a busy time in Sydney with much to see in our brief visit. After a very long flight we arrived in the early evening so the priority was to eat and then go to bed. We ventured to the Darling harbour and ate at Nick’s Restaurant. Sadly, we arrived at the end of the regular Saturday evening fireworks.

On Sunday, we set off on the Monorail for a complete circuit and then strolled through the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens and to the point to see Mrs.Macquarie’s Chair (it was as carved out of sandstone in the early 1800s for Govenor Lachlan Macquarie's wife, Elizabeth and became her favourite spot to gaze upon the harbour).

Next was a walk around Sydney Opera House before going on to stroll around The Rocks area with its oldest pub in Sydney, quaint streets and colourful street market. We took a ferry to Darling Harbour, passing the Opera House and going under Sydney Harbour Bridge. Lunch was at I’m Angus restaurant before leaving for the airport and our flight to Cairns.
