Widow’s Water
We went on the zodiacs along the river through a vast mangrove area. The tall mangrove
trees overhang the narrow waterway that leads to a short walkway (300m) and then it was
a muddy section before getting on a dry walk through the rainforest to the waterfall known
to the locals as the Widow’s Water. Our guide was from the local village of Yensawai.

Yensawai Village
We visited the village of Yensawai in the deep bay at Batanta Island. After a greeting by lots
of screaming, smiling children there was a tour of the school and village of all the brightly
coloured buildings. It is a Christian village of a few hundred people.
